What Documents You Need
The verification process requires three things:
1. Government-Issued Photo ID
Accepted documents:
- Kenyan National ID (both sides)
- Kenyan Passport (photo and information pages)
- Alien ID (for non-citizens)
The document must be valid (not expired) and the photo must clearly match your selfie.
2. Agent Profile Photo (Selfie)
A clear, well-lit photo of your face. No sunglasses, hats, or heavy filters. This is compared against your ID photo by our verification team.
3. Professional Credential (Optional but Recommended)
If you are registered with the Estate Agents Registration Board of Kenya (EARB), uploading your registration certificate earns you the "Licensed Agent" badge in addition to the standard verified badge. This further increases client confidence.
The Verification Process Step by Step
- 1Register for a free SparkleHomes account and select "Agent" as your role.
- 2Complete your profile: agency name (or your name if sole practitioner), phone number, operating areas, and a short bio.
- 3Go to KYC Verification in your agent dashboard.
- 4Upload your documents: ID (front and back) and your selfie. Files must be JPEG or PNG, max 5MB each.
- 5Submit. Our verification team reviews your submission — typically within 24 hours on business days.
- 6Receive confirmation via email. Your profile will display the green Verified badge.
After Verification
Once verified, you can:
- List unlimited properties on the Platform.
- Receive direct booking requests from tenants.
- Access the tenant messaging system.
- View leads and analytics in your agent dashboard.
Your verified status is reviewed annually. You may be asked to re-verify if you update your profile photo or if your ID approaches expiry.
What Gets an Application Rejected?
Applications are rejected for:
- Blurry, dark, or illegible documents.
- ID details that don't match the profile name.
- Expired identity documents.
- Suspected use of another person's ID.
If rejected, you will receive an email explaining the reason and instructions on how to resubmit. Most rejections are resolved in one resubmission.
